bandaros2

This wine from the Bandaròs vineyard renders homage to the Bordolese wine-making tradition. It is made from a balanced combination of Carbernet Sauvignon and Merlot that has been refined in wood for a long period of time. Its Friuli‟s most tangible proof that the territory is also home to „Grandi Rossi‟ or „Great Reds‟.

Sensory features: This ruby-red wine is terse and intense. The nose will perceive its unbridled bouquet where you‟ll discover a sequence of fruity aromas including marasca cherry and raspberry, followed by the delicate herbal flavours of chlorophyll with a touch of green pepper and tobacco. To the palate, it is impetuous and full-bodied, proving equally complex and well-articulated to both the nose and mouth. Herbal flavours enhance the fruity mix offering finesse to each sip, sustained by a tannic texture that‟s fine and elegant.

Technical Notes

Grape variety: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon & 40% Merlot. Grown on Marly and eocenic at an altitude of 160 –170m above sea level in the Oleis di Manzano area.

Vinification: The grapes are gathered according to their respective ripening times and alcoholic fermentation is carried out separately in steel vats at a constant, controlled temperature. Once the fermentation process has been completed, „cutting‟ is carried out and the wine is placed in durmast barriques for refining which lasts at least 24 months. From the date that the wine is bottled, it undergoes an additional in-glass refining period that lasts 6 months.

Best Served: Excellent with savoury red meats, this wine is a good match for wild game. A delicious match for aged cheeses made with cow milk.
