A lively and smooth Haut-Médoc red wine
Sensory Features: The finest wine this estate has produced in some time is the 2022 Cantemerle, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc that bursts from the glass with aromas of sweet blackberries, violets, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with an enveloping core of sweet, perfumed fruit framed by supple tannin, it concludes with a long, mouthwatering finish.
Grape Varieties: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc & 5% Petit Verdot.
Estate: With origins dating back to 1147, Château Cantemerle is one of the very old estates in Haut-Médoc. Managed by the Cordier family, Château Cantemerle will delight wine lovers with the style of its wines, playing on the register of harmony and elegance thanks to an aromatic palette full of subtlety and a tannic structure full of finesse.
Vineyard: Château Cantemerle 2022 is an Haut-Médoc wine from a 96-hectare vineyard. The vines are 40 years old on average and are planted on a terroir of gravel and silica from the quaternary period.
Vintage: A mild and dry winter advanced an early budburst before frosts in April, which had little impact on the vineyard. The mild and wet conditions of the spring allowed for rapid flowering and an even veraison. The summer period was marked by high temperatures combined with a water deficit which, thanks to the rigorous management of the vineyard and the deep rooting of the vines, did not slow down the ripening of the grapes. The harvest was carried out early and in a plot-by-plot manner according to the ripeness. The vineyard was in perfect health.
Winemaking & Ageing: Hand-picked with sorting on the vine. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (40% new, 40% one-wine and 20% two-wine).
