Charles Baudelaire, one of the most important and renowned poets in French literature, was known for his unique poetic style and his exploration of themes such as beauty, decadence, melancholy and the search for spirituality in urban life. When he used the expression "Chasse-Spleen" in his work "Artificial Paradises", the term "spleen" referred to a melancholic mood or deep sadness. Therefore, the name Château Chasse-Spleen symbolises the idea of chasing away that melancholy or sadness through the enjoyment of wine. Located in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation of the Bordeaux region of France, northwest of Margaux, the winery produces wines with passion and dedication.
Its namesake wine,Château Chasse-Spleen, is a coupage ofcabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdotfrom old vines planted on the unique quaternary gravel soil. They are cultivated with respect for the environment using organic treatments, and the harvest is carried out by hand when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. In the cellar, the best grapes are selected and destemmed to prepare them for vinification. They ferment with native yeasts at a controlled temperature and then the wine is aged for 14–16 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new.
With the intention of producing wines for enjoyment,Château Chasse-Spleenoffers the opportunity to experience the best of the Bordeaux terroir at a very affordable price. A powerful, elegant and velvety blend that manages to dispel any sadness at the first sip.
