A complex and refined great Pauillac red wine
Sensory Features: Smoky dark fruits and leafy tobacco are just some of the notes in the 2022 Château Lynch-Moussas, a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced, beautifully layered Pauillac. The tannins here are ripe and polished, and it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as outstanding length. It's a seriously good wine, if not the finest, from this château. It's clearly in the same ballpark as the 2018, 2019, and 2020
Grape Varieties: 74% Cabernet Sauvignon & 26% Merlot
In the 18th century,Château Lynch-Moussas, like Château Lynch-Bages, became the property of the famous Irish Lynch family. The Castéja family, owners since the 16th century in Pauillac, acquired this château at the beginning of the 20th century.
Vineyards: Château Lynch-Moussas is a Pauillac wine from a 62-hectare vineyard.
Vintage: Despite a rainy end to the year 2021, a particularly dry winter preceded a spring with five nights of intense frost that only slightly affected the vineyard. In mid-May, flowering was rapid and even. The month of June alternated between very hot weather and heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. The summer was very dry, making 2022 the hottest year since 1947. The harvest began at the beginning of September, revealing small, concentrated berries, perfectly ripe and rich.
