The complexity and aromatic richness of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
Sensory Features:The 2022 Troplong Mondot has turned out brilliantly in bottle. Wafting from the glass with aromas of mulberries and blackberries mingled with notions of licorice, rose petals, incense and pencil shavings, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with huge mid-palate volume, superb integration and an ineffable sense of completeness. This site always delivers power, but I've never tasted a Troplong that's simultaneously quite so powerful or quite so harmonious and suave. Concluding with a broad, violet-inflected finish, the 2022 represents the essence of this remarkable site.
Grape Varieties: 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon & 2% Cabernet Franc.
Estate: In Bordeaux, where most estates are no bigger than 10 hectares, Château Troplong Mondot is one of the largest estates in Saint-Émilion. Founded in 1700, this Premier Grand Cru Classé is at the very top of the Saint-Émilion appellation.
Vineyard: A benchmark among the great wines of Saint-Émilion, Château Troplong Mondot oversees a vineyard that rises to an altitude of 110 metres. All the vines are grown using integrated viticulture methods. The vines are grown on clay-limestone soils typical of the appellation.
